2009-08-24

Washington, D.C. – August 25, 2009 – One of the most talked-about books in public relations and marketing -- How Come No One Knows About Us? by Robert Deigh – has  won a third award in 2009 for excellence in business writing.

The latest accolade is an APEX Award for publications excellence by communication professionals.  Earlier this year, the book won a silver medal for excellence in business writing in the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards during Book Expo America in New York, the industry’s largest publishing event.  Prior to that, it won an Axiom Award, also for excellence in business writing.  It was a finalist for two other award competitions this year.

How Come No One Knows About Us? is designed to help anyone get high visibility for their products and services  – small entrepreneurs, corporate managers and PR managers at companies.  It is also an excellent tool for executives at PR firms who want to add some powerful new tactics to their arsenal. A number of universities use the book as a textbook including American University, the University of California Irvine and, soon, George Mason University.  The book is available online, in all major bookstores and directly from the publisher WBusiness Books at www.wbusinessbooks.com.

What makes this book unique is that it is a complete PR guide filled with proven tactics learned over more than 25 years.  The author also provides plenty of humorous anecdotes to illustrate his points – from corporate boardrooms, to the middle of the Panamanian jungle, to a morning in a Cleveland TV studio with Miss America.  A few topics from the book:

  • Learn how to win high visibility and become top-of-mind with your prospective customer base.
  • Learn how to identify great stories within your organization and pitch them to the press.
  • Help your team speak with a single voice. Create powerful and compelling “messages.”

·         Learn how to use the new Web 2.0 Weapons of Mass Communication and social media as tools.

"Deigh's knowledge of PR strategy and practical tactics make him one of the go-to guys in business communication. He knows his stuff and has the track record to prove it. Deigh offers great, practical methods for using traditional and new-media PR and gives them a fresh and humorous perspective that anyone can use immediately to win higher visibility," says Ted Leonsis, Vice Chairman Emeritus of America Online, film producer and owner of the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals team.
